Fedro S. Zazueta, PhD
Fedro S. Zazueta has made significant contributions to academia, technology, and international organizations throughout a distinguished career spanning several decades, in the United States, Latin America, Asia, and Europe, shaping agricultural and technological strategies in these regions.
Dr Zazueta served as Associate CIO (Chief Information Officer), Director of the Office of Academic Technology, Director of IFAS IT (Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Information Technology), and as a professor in the field. He was entrusted with leading IT strategic planning and governance efforts for the institution, highlighting their invaluable role in shaping technological advancements in academia.
Dr Zazueta’s career boasts several noteworthy accomplishments and affiliations. He served as President of the International Academy of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (IAABE) from 2018 to 2019, further enhancing their international standing and influence in the field. His role as Secretary General of the International Commission of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (CIGR) from 2018 to 2024 exemplifies his dedication to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange on a global scale. Dr Zazueta held the position of President of the International Commission of Agricultural and Biological Engineering in 2011-2012.
Dr Zazueta is the recipient of the UF Presidential Medallion for Outstanding Service, the Massey-Ferguson Educational Award, the Lifetime Honorary President of CIGR, the Kishida International Award, the US Department of Agriculture Outstanding Service Award, the Outstanding Leadership Award from ASABE, the Young Engineer of the Year from the Florida Section of ASAE, the Florida Davis Productivity Award from the Florida Tax Watch Foundation, and the Teacher of the Year from the Tecnológico de Monterrey Student Association. Dr Zazueta is a distinguished member of the Club of Bologna, a Fellow of the International Academy of Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering, and a Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE).
